Dr. Ries and Exercise #2 Page 338
On p. 338 of our text there is a listing of the qualifications of eight candidates who have applied for a position within your school district. You, as a teacher-leader within your building, have an opportunity to have input into the hiring of teachers who will be employed within your school district. You are being asked to choose only two out of the eight candidates listed here who will be working in your school. Your school has a very strong commitment to a multicultural curriculum and you are looking for candidates who will embrace that multicultural philosophy, take the curriculum, and "run with it." Which of these candidates would be your two choices and why? You can place your answer right here in the comment section.

The two candidates that I thought would fit best for this school's environment were Candidates #1 and #5. Even though both candidates are women, I felt that they were the most qualified for what the school itself is working towards. Candidate #1 is known for helping low students become successful in their learning. I think she probably uses a variety of strategies that a geared to helping every child and that is why I believe she would be successful in this school. Additionally, Candidate #5 seemed promising because she is a mother of three children and has experience with the younger grades too. It also says that she is very creative with her lessons and for a school that promotes creativity will be a collaborative asset to other teachers. I believe that these two candidates will add to the overall success of the school for these reasons.

The two candidates I think would do a better job are #1 and #7. They are the two that have more teaching experiences. One of them has been successful with students with low academic index, and the other also has experiences in infant school which, in my opinion, is very importan because the early education is the basis of teaching.
